End of the Year? Beginning of the Year?

We can't decide what it feels like!!

Something just seems "off" about posting about a back-to-school file when we still have 5 more days left of the school year! (Just compare our last post, to this post!) However, after getting several requests for our back-to-school files...we starting thinking "September!"

Here are some activities that are included in our unit, Back to School Bash, which we just posted on TpT:

Teacher/ Student Venn diagram!

A fun, interactive way to learn about student and teacher responsibilities in a brand new classroom with a brand new teacher! Students make a Venn diagram to compare and contrast the role of the teacher and the student!

Super Smart Students: Celebrating Our Smarts!
This lesson is inspired by Dr. Howard Gardner, a psychologist and professor from Harvard University. He developed the Multiple Intelligences (MI) theory in 1983.
Gardner believes each person has their own unique profile of the 9 intelligences (8 are described in this lesson) and no two people are the same!

This lesson shows students that we are all smart...in our own special way!
I place all the posters on butcher paper and keep this up all year long as a bulletin board in my classroom. I actually hear students say, "I am people smart" and "I am self smart so I want to work by myself!" I also show this to the parents at Curriculum Night and explain how I differentiate the curriculum based on the needs of my students. They are always impressed!

There are several friendship themed activities in this unit. One of them is the V.I.P. lesson! Students learn how to ask and answer thick questions, act as celebrities and paparazzi, and get to learn more about each other in the process!

There are also some ideas for those bare bulletin boards! No student work yet? That's ok! Put up our Caution! Site Under Construction sign!

Another idea for a year-round bulletin board?
From the desk of Ms. Elyse, Mr. Erick, Ms. Jackie....get the idea?
Take picture of the students sitting at their desk and then place a writing sample under their picture. This is a great bulletin board to keep up all year because you only have to change the writing, not the background!! :)

The Back to School Bash includes a little bit of everything that you may need:
-Let's get acquianted forms, letters, and ideas to establish a home/school connection with your families
-Student surveys
-Several interactive bulletin board ideas
-Celebrity of the day lesson, where students interview each other to learn more about each other
-Writing activities for summer
-Friendship themed worksheets
-Activities that help foster a comfortable classroom environment
-Lots of pictures!
