Easi-Speak Giveaway

Hello, everyone!  Learning Resources recently sent us some products for review AND offered to give a few to some lucky followers.  The first product is their Easi-Speak USB Recorder.  I read many different reviews and agreed with what many other teachers said.  This would be great for fluency practice, center work, etc.  However, I had something different in mind...  :)

The students recently completed a moon research project.  We were going to share them with parents and one child mentioned that her parent would not be able to come the day of our moon readings.  That's when the Easi-Speak recorder came to mind!  I recorded the students whose parent couldn't make it to our presentation, plugged the Easi-Speak into my computer, and emailed the recordings to those families!  The kids were so excited and their parents were so proud!  The files are saved as MP3 files so they're easy to save and email and the sound quality is great.
You can see the product on Learning Resources website (http://www.learningresources.com) or check them out at any of these sites:  https://www.facebook.com/learningresources, http://twitter.com/#!/learninghandson, http://www.youtube.com/user/LearningResourcesInc

How would you use the Easi-Speak in your classroom?  Leave us a comment, along with your email address, and one random winner will receive their own Easi-Speak from Learning Resources!  The winner will be announced on Thursday.

I love your idea about emailing the presentations! We have a play coming up and it would be awesome to have an Easi Speak to record it! Add that to fluency and I would use it a lot! I also have lots of parents who don't speak English, and this would be a great way for them to hear the weekly spelling and vocabulary words that my students have each week! Hmmm - For writing, how about students reading their first draft ? They would hear some of their grammar mistakes right away when reading, and then more when they listen back. The ideas are endless!

I would love to use this to have my students record their individualized spelling words! It was such a challenge for me this past year to do my rounds giving my students their differentiated spelling tests! I would also love this for transcribing interviews, something we do quite often during Social Studies! What an awesome tool!

I would love to use this as a workstation for the kids to rotate through as I work with small groups. It would also be really great for shy students to use when giving oral reports, so they could practice and hear how they sound ahead of time.

Thanks so much!

I would love to use this for a beginning of the year welcome project. I have my students draw themselves on the computer with kidspiration. Then they type a few sentences about themselves. After typing, the students read their sentences and then we add the audio to their pictures. At the end, I compile all of the pictures and audio to a DVD and then they can take the DVD home to introduce their families to their new classmates.

I also LOVE the ideas about fluency...it would be so useful in the classroom!!!

Love the idea to use this for parents who cannot make it to a writer's publishing party! But could also use this in writing to jumpstart my reluctant writers. In reading aside from individual fluency recording, it would be nice to use with my buddy readers as well.

I would use this for fluency. What a great tool;) other ideas that come to mind are for plays, poetry, and even recording conversations in think-pair-share groups because they interrupt each other more than they realize. Teaching good social skills is essential too!;)

I would utilize this product during my Daily 5 rotations. Students could record reading poetry fluently, or simply read aloud sight words/vocabulary words aloud. This would be an amazing addition to our classroom!

I have a group of struggling second graders. I would love to have them use this in the classroom and have my students hear themselves while reading. It would be a very useful tool in having them start to read with expression and also begin the hard skill of self-correcting, which is one of the skills that they lack the most.

I would use Easi-Speak several different ways! The first would be for fluency workstation. One student would read a selection. Their buddy would listen to the selection and rate their reading. Also, I would record students several times a year and keep it on a computer file. Students would be able to hear how their fluency has improved throughout the year.

This product sounds great and easy to use. I would definitely use it for reading - fluency and assessment. I would also have the kids read their writing so they could listen to it back again. That makes such a difference. In Spanish, my kids present conversation skits to practice their vocabulary. Also, I am doing a rock star theme in my 3rd grade classroom next year, so we need a cool microphone. :) I can see the kids singing our multiplication songs and much more!

I would use this for so many things! I would use it to record my students when they are reading. I teach special education students that can get very overwhelmed with presentations, so this would be a great way for them to record by themselves and then play for us what they want to say. I want to do a Wax Museum next year with my students, but I want them to have a recording instead of having to talk as students walk through the Wax Museum, so this would help us with that project!

There are SOOOO many wonderful things that I would love to use this for. Our school is a school with such high poverty and many of my parents work 2-3 jobs and are unable to break away to see school happenings. I like the idea of being able to share those meaningful moments with parents/family. Hoping to win!

There are so many wonderful ways I could use this product. I will be moving from third grade to first grade and the first thing I thought of was having the kids build fluency by recording themselves and by recording books for the listening library. Wow! The ideas are really churning. I would love to win this!

Oh my after watching the youtube videos and checking out the Learning Resources website the ideas started flowing. I would you these in my browsing box area for kids to read into and then I can play back their recordings (also could be done in my library area). I would also use this with the new projection system (like a smartboard) in my room to make interactive games and activities for large group times. The possiblities could be endless. Thanks for sharing this product.

Wow! I love the opportunities this product can give me in the classroom and I've loved reading all the ideas. I would like to use it with 2 specific groups - my ELL kiddos with very little English language (and whose parents usually have less English) and my special education kiddos. I love that you can email these presentations so not only could I use it to work on vocabulary and fluency in reading groups but with emailing it to the parent it will provide a tool for my non English speaking families to assist them with daily take home readers/reading at home. I think the children would be so excited too to be able to hear themselves reading a book they read at school from their home computer. It would be a great tool for my special ed children who need extra time to process and comprehend what they are reading. I'm super excited about the possibilities of this tool.
