New Blog Design, More Kindness…Oh My!!!

First things first, how do you like our new blog design!?!?! Nicole and I have been working with a designer for the past month and are just thrilled with how it turned out! What do you think!?!?!
Now to our Random Acts of Kindness lesson for today- Snowman Surprise!!! This was such a fun, easy, and inexpensive way to show my students how we can dedicate our time to make a craft for a friend, deliver it to them, and not expect anything in return.
Slide9 With this adorable craft (Blue Cricket Design) as my inspiration….I got to work!

I asked one of the second grade teachers at my building for her class list. I then assigned each one of my third graders to a student on the second grade class list. My students make the snowman craft and then wrote a cute little letter for their second grade friends!

I gathered all the necessary supplies and set up a snowman station at the table. You only need a few supplies: Styrofoam cups, cotton balls, Q-Tips, pink and brown/black paint, glue, and construction or scrapbook paper for the orange nose.
The students got right to work and painted a snowman on the Styrofoam cups. It never ceases to amaze me how much kids love to paint!!!!

My students worked hard to make a cute snowman for their second grade buddy!
Slide11
At the end of the day, my students were ready to play a little trick on the second graders! We waited until the first bell rang, made sure the second graders were out of their classroom,  and quietly snuck inside!!! The students hunted for their second grader’s desk and delivered the snowman surprise!!!
Slide13
This little girl wrote a sweet letter….to her sister!!! Yes, her sister is in second grade and she thought she was so sneaky leaving a little surprise on her desk!!

Slide15
My students not only loved making this simple craft, but more importantly, they loved SHARING it with the second graders!
Slide14
I bet you have all these supplies already in your home or classroom! Go gather them and plan a fun craft for tomorrow afternoon---it’s Friday!!! Smile
Oh! And the first person to tell us what they like about our new blog design will get a copy of our new unit, Kindness for Kids in the Classroom, Community, and School Setting for free! (Don’t forget to leave your email address!!!)
